As part of Scams Awareness Month, the Office of Fair Trading is holding a day of action at airports in the UK and Spain to warn people about bogus holiday clubs and to inform them of their new consumer rights.

OFT and Age UK join forces to urge scams victims to speak up

The Office of Fair Trading and Age UK have joined forces to raise awareness amongst older people of mass-marketed scams and urge them to speak up if they have been targeted by scammers.
Older people are more likely to be targeted by these scammers with over 55s accounting for almost half of people who say they have been approached, according to OFT research.

We all like to get letters, but would you like to receive 40 letters everyday asking you to send off money?
Trading standards have recently collected around 5000 scam mailings from one elderly resident living in Portsmouth.
These letters tell you that you have won on a foreign lottery or that you can invest your cash with no risk in stocks and shares.
